Healthy Homemade Hummus Recipe
My hummus recipe without tahini or sesame
If you’re looking for an easy appetizer, look no further! This delicious hummus takes about 5 minutes to make and you likely have all the ingredients in your cupboard now. Tip: always have a can of chickpeas on hand so when you’re in a pinch for an appetizer or snack, you can easily put this together!
When I found out my son was allergic to sesame (he had some hummus and immediately had a reaction), I began making my own hummus that was tahini free. What is tahini? Tahini is ground sesame! Once I began making my own sesame-free hummus, I liked it better than store bought! It is simple to throw together. Bonus: no artificial ingredients or preservatives.
Once you’ve blended all the ingredients together spread on a platter and garnish with feta, olive oil, fresh thyme, sea salt flakes and pepper. Serve with crudités, pita slices or your favorite crackers. Enjoy!
RECIPE:
1 can chickpeas (drained)
2 T olive oil
1-2 cloves garlic chopped ( 2 cloves for garlic lovers!)
1 t kosher salt (if using table salt use 1/2 t)
1 t ground cumin
1 T lemon juice
Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. If the hummus is too thick, add additional olive oil until desired consistency!
